Prof. Jay Carlisle comments on the many pressures faced by federal judges

Serving as a judge in the Southern District of New York brings tremendous prestige. It also brings an enormous workload at a pay scale well below what an attorney could make in private practice.

With nine new judges joining the bench, “Law 360″ explores the challenges and temptations facing federal judges. Professor Jay Carlisle, an expert in professional responsibility and in New York practice, was interviewed for the article.

“They’re held in high regard by the bench and the bar. It’s the closest thing to god you can be in legal circles. The power is immense,” Professor Carlisle is quoted as saying.
