In op-ed, Prof. Kennedy spotlights the shared interests of Big Oil and the GOP

Professor Robert Kennedy, Jr. penned an op-ed where he outlines the many ways the Republican party and the oil industry have become intertwined and present their common interests as “patriotic.” A professor of environmental law, Kennedy challenges the way efforts towards environmentally sound policies have been dismissed by some government officials.

Published in the Huffington Post, Professor Kennedy writes, “Big Oil’s Orwellian skill at employing the rhetoric of patriotism and emblazoning its enterprises with stars and stripes, has stitched the notion that conservation is synonymous with “anti-American” into the fabric of GOP talking points.”
