Prof. Gershman comments on the impact of judge’s decision in New Orleans case

An article in the New Orleans newspaper, “The Times-Picayune”, explores the ramifications of the recent decision of a federal judge to order a new trial for the police officers convicted of killing civilians in the days after Hurricane Katrina. When information came to light that prosecutors in the case had posted disparaging comments to on-line bulletin boards, the judge cited prosecutorial misconduct.

“It’s one of the most hard-hitting condemnations of the conduct of the Justice Department and several prosecutors in the Justice Department that I’ve ever seen,” Professor Gershman is quoted as saying.
