Professor Rogers quoted in “New York Magazine”

Professor Audrey Rogers was quoted in “New York Magazine” in an article that explores the case against Gilberto Valle.

Valle, a former New York City police officer who has been dubbed “the cannibal cop,” has been charged with conspiracy to kidnap. Much of the evidence against him comes from on-line activity raising questions of when thoughts become criminal actions.

“What’s changed in recent years are the tools used to detect intent—namely, a person’s online activity. ‘We’ve always said you can’t punish for thoughts alone, but now we really know what the thoughts are,’ says Audrey Rogers, a law professor at Pace University who has taught the Valle case in class,” reads a section of the article.
