The Wall Street Journal speaks with Prof. Rogers about the “fantasy defense”

With the conviction of the New York City police officer dubbed the “Cannibal Cop,” the Wall Street Journal spoke with Professor Audrey Rogers. An expert in criminal law, she commented on the “fantasy defense” used in trial, a strategy that claimed the defendant’s words expressed his fantasies, not actual plans.

“Ms. Rogers said that on the rare occasions the fantasy defense is used, it isn’t uncommon for jury members to be ‘so disgusted’ by the allegations that it influences their decision making” write reporter Sean Gardiner.
